I will returning this system. Why do they create this product and don't say if you don't have a BOSE system then look elswhere. If you don't have a BOSE system then forget this product. Why can't they work with other systems. BEWARE. It won't work. I didn't understand this when I order it and I am very disappointed since I was looking forward to have rear speakers.
Now I'm going to be penalized a 15% restocking fee and shipping fees with 6th Ave. You can't hook up this system unless you have a bose system/receiver in place. Sweet Deal. Electronics. I saw a review on another site that suggested this would work with my Onkyo receiver, but after buying and attempting to install the system I found out the hard way. Confirmed this is true with Bose customer service.
I highly recommend this product. That said, the connection is beyond easy and the sound quality is impeccable. An excellent product, however, I was just a little disappointed that this is really only a partially wireless connection. While the SL2 saves the trouble of running a wire to the back of the room, you must still run wires to the speakers.
It comes complete with connections to your Acoustimass module, and new wires to connect from the remote unit to your speakers. After a recent house move I was forced to try and "hide" the surround sound wires for my LifeStyle 35 system rear speakers between the baseboards and carpet. My receiving unit is approximately 15 feet from the broadcast unit. No need to cut or strip wires and even has the right connections for Lifestyle "cube" speakers.Without doubt, this is a perfect system when used as designed, within a decent-sized room for a home theatre system. This worked well until my youngest son started crawling and pulled the wires up.After much searching around I decided that this system would be best and I am not disappointed. For owners of a Bose system, this is a snap to install.
a) The system is made up of two receivers. I recently moved to a new house, and didn't want to drill holes in the walls or floor to get the wires to the back of the room. b) The front receiver plugs into the base module with 2 wires (left & right speaker wires)c) The rear speakers plug into the rear receiver.d) Installation complete. This is an excellent product and I highly recommend it to all. They are both very small, and are easily concealable. I was somewhat skeptical about this product and concerned with sound quality. However, I'm happy to say there is absolutely no difference between using the SL2 and hard wiring the rear speakers.
